The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alūksne

latvian

Church built in 1781-1788 belongs to the period of late Baroque and early Classicism, the author is K.Haberland.

In 1991, next to the church the only Bible museum in Latvia was established. The place was not chosen by chance, the choice was made due to the historical fact that in 1680-ties Ernest Gl(ck lived in this place. The first Bible translation into Latvian was carried out under the guidance of E.Gl(ck. In this museum you can find the Bible translation, first edition of which was published in 1689. Now this museum is named after E.Gl(ck.
