Castle Ruins in Bauska

latvian

Where the Mūsa and the Mēmele come together a picturesque peninsula has been developed with a view on the ruins of the former Bauska castle. The building of castle is dated with 1456, but in 1706 Russian military commander Sheremetjev occupied the castle and it was set off. As this castle was destroyed and not rebuilt it has been the only castle in Mannerism style in Latvia, therefore the reconstruction of this castle has been started.

We hope that the seat of Kurland duke - Bauska's castle - will be reconstructed in its former look.
