Vermanes gardens

This is the second oldest Riga public park, the beginning of which was dated in the period of time after a huge fire in 1812. After that governor general Pauluchi decided to make a park to make people to forget this accident. In 1857, after Riga fortification wall was destroyed, this garden obtained the present territory with buildings for different entertainment, concerts. At that time this park gained the name of Vermane, the main donator of this park.

In 1865 a fountain made by Buholz and Han was settled in this park. It was renovated in 1978.

In 1985 a monument to Kr.Barons, the compiler of Latvian folk-songs, was unveiled.
